Bit Torrent Surf – Turn Google Chrome into a torrenting-manager !

Many people know what P2P software is and bit torrent is no exception here. BitTorrent Inc is still determined to bring its file sharing protocol to the masses for legitimate purposes, with the launch of its Chrome extension Surf aiming to further that goal. Surf — which has been in development for the past six months — allows users to search for and download torrents directly from within Chrome browser. Surf lets you find torrents on the Web and download them. To install the extension click here.

Now Surf goes beyond that. It allows for automatic torrent detection when you navigate to a site, and you can save favorite sites to “create your own combined engine”. Surf also tells you the “health” of the torrent, which means how many peers are sharing it, and it lets you download the files within Chrome. A firefox version is still in the works according to reports.

The extension is designed to use search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing by appending “torrent” to queries, but users also have the option to add their favorite sites. Surf even ties into the Internet Archive: entire websites and videos can be downloaded with relative ease.

A quick recap of the Surf features are as follows:-
Search
• Quickly find torrents across multiple search sites.
• Automatically detect search sites
• And add your favorite sites to create a custom search engine.

These are the results which i got when i searched for Ubuntu 12.04 linux desktop download.

The youtube video here would give us a quick demo of this wonderful piece of extension written for the  Chrome browser.

Njoy !
