Ubuntu Linux comes with some open source drivers and there might be some vendor locking on proprietary drivers like the ones from Nvidia, AMD radeon etc. Note that Nvidia drivers can be installed/downloaded from there website.
There are some default changes which needs to be made in the settings on /etc file
Nouveau driver module has to be disabled first. Add this command on your terminal
blacklist nouveau
to /etc/modprobe.d/backlist.conf
, run
update-initramfs -u
and then you should reboot the machine.
X server should also be stopped before you start the installation
sudo service lightdm stop
