Libreoffice is a fantastic open source free office suite for Linux, Windows and Mac users, but have you ever come across the problem of updating the version since there is always new version coming and there is no auto-update feature available yet. There is a way and the best way to remove or uninstall libreoffice in ubuntu or debian is by using the command line. Make sure you run as a root.

Type the following in terminal to remove libreoffice.

sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice*

sudo apt-get clean

sudo apt-get autoremove

That’s it voila now the entire office suite is removed and for more details on how to install libreoffice from scratch please click here (for ubuntu and debian users).

For Fedora and other rpm related distro’s please click here for the tutorial
