Simple way to password protect file archive

Here we shall be talking a straight forward way to password protect an entire archive ie. a .zip file or any compressed file extension of it’s kind.

Required tools are 7-zip

Steps:-

  • Connect your USB to the PC and format it using FAT 32 or msdos format which is the most common way to do it as it’s readable by most of the devices out there.
  • Once format is done copy the files/images etc inside the flash drive and just compress it, here we shall be using a cool tool called 7-zip.
  • In the Add to Archive window, choose the Archive format and add a password. Click OK to start the archiving and encryption process.

Note:- for safety you may also make a archive locally and then copy/cut the file to the pen drive, your mileage may vary. Remember to keep backups always incase you loose your flash drive, gets corrupted, etc.
