We all know that installing a .deb package is rather simple and most of the time a one single click can do the job. But when things break, you know those dependencies can make you cripple. So let’s find an easy solution for most of the command line lovers out there including me too, as Anglehit explains:
You can install it using
sudo dpkg -i /give/the/path/file.debfollowed by
sudo apt-get install -fand here the -f switch stands for forceful install
You can install it using apt-get install package_name
. But first move your .deb file to /var/cache/apt/archives/
directory. After executing this command, it will automatically download its dependencies.
Finally cd to the above directory and simply install, incase you still are out of luck, remove the .deb extension and install again via command line or the GUI.
