We all have used Windows PC sometime or the other, or atleast since ancient times, i mean when there was no Linux or Gnu/Linux or BSD types of Operating Systems. Now that we’re so much used to say Windows 10 at the time of writing this blog post, let us rememeber that the Windows market share is almost 90% and above. So let us get acquainted and as Anglehit explains how to speed up your Windows PC, as follows
Make sure that you have enough of free space left in your C drive, yes those drives are been ment for, if not for Windows files only(for proper running of the whole OS in a nutshell) such as the executables or the DLL files.
Use third party software such as CCleaner from Piriform. Once you download and install this software, remove all the unwanted files from time to time and make sure you also clean the registry(if required, take a backup of it). But generally speaking it’s not that compulsory.
Do not always login as an Administrator since it’s like you have full priveleges to your system and if you mess around you might corrupt the whole OS somehow or the other. Make a secondary account or say multiple accounts or profiles say for people/users in your family, small organization etc.
Open Start + Run or just hit Ctrl + R and type temp, after that hit Enter key and then shift + delete the entire contents inside the folder.
Again the same thing as the above mentioned point, do it for %temp% files inside the same folder and simply delete all of them.
Defrag your Hard disk from time to time say atleast once in 2 months. Note that this does not apply to SSD’s(Solid State Drives) as they are not mechanical drives and they do not have a sector, and most of the SSD’s out there in the market do a good job of file caching and zippy loading of folders and other stuff’s about say 10X the speed of physical HDD’s out there.
Make sure you have a good Anti-virus, a free one shall also do say Avast or AVG is good to go. This also helps when you’re infected and your machine gets slowed down due to viruses or trojans which somehow or the other tend to become a resource hog.
Last but not the least avoid downloading illegal content from torrents or other P2P based softwares. Make sure that you do not insert any external drive without scanning it, say Windows Defender or some other AV program of your choice.
So folks this is just the tip of iceberg which I wanted to share with you guys out there, if you have any other tips or tricks do feel free to mention them in the comment sections below.
