Perfect way to install youtube-dl on Ubuntu/Debian based distros

In my Opinion there are dozens of ways to achieve this but most of them do not work perfectly as per what I’ve encountered in my research to do tasks. The thing which i want to point out here would be upgrade–update fails and future versions are just not accessible.

This neat article from askubuntu

  • sudo snap install youtube-dl

which further digs into this on the terminal….

  • $ sudo snap install youtube-dl youtube-dl 2020.11.17+gitd65d891 from Joe Borg (joeborg) installed $ youtube-dl --version bash: /usr/bin/youtube-dl: No such file or directory $ which youtube-dl /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl

another method – my favourite and recommended.

make sure you have pip3 installed if you’re using 20.04 LTS and beyond hence this command below works flawless.

that’s it happy downloading from tons and tons of free videos online…
